Maintenance of the weir in Maurik

To enable maintenance of the original weir in Maurik (the Netherlands), BSB created a test structure which was placed on the inside of the weir. The temporary structure was put in place two weeks ago, on September 12, 2016.

Test construction on site

The temporary construction had to be tested on two points: whether it was properly sealed and if the construction could withstand the enormous pressure. Jongema Machine and Revisiebedrijf called in Van Heck to place three VSPH400 pumps that could deliver a total flow rate of 3,900 m3 per hour. By pumping the water out between the temporary construction and the original construction, a situation was created that the temporary construction could be fully loaded and tested. Now the necessary maintenance of the original weir could begin.
